Why a journalist... ... would become an illustrator and writer of books on nature?

For the past thirty years, Yana Marull has traveled through the Amazon and the great forests of South America, and connected with their diverse populations, as a journalist, as a researcher for her books and in support of educational projects and local institutions.

“I want to convey the fascination with nature and its science, through the eyes and with words. And with that, communicate the critical importance of forests and their populations for our planet, for all of us.”

A vast experience in the Amazon, the wildlife and the big forests in South America is the source of Yana Marull’s books, illustrations and project development.

in the news

The environment for children and youth

Superheros or science

“Children like good superhero and fantasy world stories. But they also take to science and nature. They want to understand the world in which they live. And when they get to know it, they want to protect it.

There is a great demand, both at schools and at home, for books that help explain current environmental issues and the science behind them”.

Too DIFFICULT DOES NOT EXIST

“No topics are too complicated for a child. I discovered this when a teacher wrote about my book The Flying Rivers:

‘I thought that the topic would be too complex for the age of my students. But this book taught me how we sometimes underestimate the ability of young and children.”

ART AND COMUNICATINONS

My tools are the illustration, three decades exploring the landscapes, its wildlife and peoples in South America, and 25 years’ experience in communications as an international correspondent.

“As a journalist, I wrote a great deal for adults,  Now I speak to children”.
